Silverstar shock absorber springs/ Sidestand

Postby mzsilverstarsue » Sun Aug 16, 2009 7:35 am

Hi I was wondering if I could fit a shorter or softer spring on the rear dampers to lower my Mz Silverstar slightly, does anyone know of a suitable replacement?

I was just wondering if anyone has modified the sidestand so its more user friendly.

Thanks Sue.

i have on my to do list ...design some thing so it only pops up when i pull in the clutch lever
i had a r90s bmw and it had a spring up side stand
absolutely despised the side stand it destroyed my faring the first year from bike falling over because people
did not know bumping the bike makes it fall over

Thanks for the reply Dave , the problem is that the design is too good in that you can't ride off with the side stand down but its so easy to drop the bike.

Honda used to put a bit of rubber on the end of the sidestand foot to kick it back up if you forgot about it . I had a Honda super four 400 that had a light to tell you if the sidestand was down and a lot of other makes of bikes use switch to cut the engine if you try to put the bike in to gear with the stand down .

I heard that a lot of riding schools using Kawasaki ER5 's put a shorter spring in the shock absorbers for shorter riders doing direct access tests. Already cut the seat down just wondering if I could lower the bike a little bit more to make it easier to handle.

You can check out Hagon Shocks http://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/Main.htm they also have a US website. The english site has an applications page which lists bikes that their shocks work on and the Star is one of them....i'm assuming that's silver star......they have a list of other MZ bikes that they fit too. I think i'm going to get a pair of softer ones for my Country but will probably order from the US site http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/cgi ... Hagon.html.
