Gettin back on the bike.......

Postby Garf » Sun Mar 28, 2010 4:34 pm

Well after nearly two and a half years, 3 operations, extensive physio and a half hearted attempt at selling my Baggy I am finally at the point of getting back on it and riding again :D If I'm honest some of my reluctance has been a 'head thing' that has dragged on for a good while after I was physically able to ride; if not walk particularly well. Many people have fared a lot, lot worse than me in crashes and have got back on sooner .....guess I must be a sensitive type!! I've just got to the point were I need to try it again and see how I get on.

Top and bottom is that I have been mad on bikes since I was a nipper, my dad had bikes, my wife has a bike, her dad has a bike, her brother raced motocross as a kid, many of our friends are bikers, some of our friends have died on bikes .......... I guess a fairly typical backgound of bike fans all over. Bikes are one of the reasons me and the wife got together......and yes, that is a good thing!!

Anyway I have given her (the bike not the wife) a good clean and polish today and identified bits and pieces that I will need to do before she will pass her MOT but on the whole she has weathered pretty well under her tarp and started first time. The clutch wasn't very happy to release so it was a wise move to butt the front wheel againt the garden wall before trying to engage gear !!

Its wierd but as I was cleaning her I was 'modding' bits in my head as I went..... the USD front end I was thinking of all those years ago, a 320 disc and caliper, BillJ's lightened flywheel that I enquired about probably 4 years ago, one off ali sub-frame etc. Probably wise to actually ride before I start emptying the bank account ;-)

Good to see some of the old guard still posting on here as well as the newbies.

Cheers
