If you have trouble cranking the engine over in cold weather, check what engine oil you have in. If its too viscious, ie 20w50, not 10w40, the engine will have difficulty turning over. My father always used to swear by a 50/50 mix of gearbox oil and paraffin (kerosene) in his 1952 Triumph Thunderbird in the winter. I DO NOT recommend this in a modern bike!
Radiograf It was once common practice to dilute Aero engine lube oil with petrol/gasoline before shutting down in arctic conditions and a lot of Russian military vehicles still have a provision to dilute lube oil with deisel spirit under the same conditions. But as you say not to be recommended with modern motorcycle engines.
