To all
Anyone know the numbers of 1000 series machines actually constructed? It would be interesting to know as I have just watched a SKY TV programme on MV Augusta which concentrated on exclusivity through small numbers produced, it occured to me that MZ may have been even more exclusive at one third the price and a similar build quality. There was also a reference to the "unique" cassete type unit removable gear cluster fitted to MV only. Odd, I seem to remember MZ patenting that idea in the 1950's. That is one of the problem with being old, you have too long a memory for some peoples comfort.

Hello Mr B,
Am also a contender for the role of aging juvenile!
I got in a conversation once about total numbers of 1000 models and the consensus was circa 300. I can't remember who the conversation was with however!!! A question for our colleagues on the Deutche forum maybe, and did anyone apart from Turkey have police versions?
The ST model seems to be the rarest.
There always seem to be 5+ 1000 twins for sale at any time on 'mobile.de'
There seems to be between 25 and 30 left in the UK.
I will get Fred Rogers (MZ 2 stroke parts) to enquire when I see him at the Stafford Show in a couple of weeks. He talks to the factory/spares unit most weeks. I guess we could have a private discussion about VIN numbers? Cheers J2T
