Spanner for front fork nut

Postby keithcross » Thu Feb 02, 2006 3:38 pm

After struggling with a 36mm socket to get the fork top nuts undone and then done up again, I have been looking and found the ideal tool for this. As this nut doesnt have to be done up that tight I hbrought a spanner for thermo-vicous fans for ford models. Priced at under £10 it works a treat.

Why was there a problem with a normal hex socket? (I haven't noticed anything odd about the fork caps.) What does the spanner you bought look like? Like a large flared nut spanner (the brake line kind)?

Cat

It is sometimes helpfull if the nut on the top of the forks can be loosened before the fork leg is released from the yolks (tripple trees).
If I use a 36mm socket I have to remove the handlebars first. With this thin open ended spanner I dont have to remove the handlebars anymore :)
The main reason I brought this type of spanner is that its easy to get it onto the nut and the spanner is cheaper then either a flare nut spanner or normal open ended spanner at about £6.
