Starting problem

Postby mad hatter » Sun Aug 31, 2008 6:23 pm

HI guys
I am sitting around scratching my head ! I last started my bike 2 weeks ago , no problem .Today i tried and while it seems to be turning it just wont fire .
Any way long story short ,fuel is getting through ,so i checked for a spark , I held the spark plug to the frame and cranked , no spark .I changed the sark plug and still nothing I snipped the ends from the cable that runs between the ignition coil and the plug cap and the reattached , still nothing
I have tested the continuety on the ignition coil and it seems to be good .
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated , i am at my wits end , wich to be fair was not a long journey.
Thanks steve

the kill switch ?

besides, I'm not sure the frame is a good place to test the spark plug as its painted. I usually try on the cylinder.

Like el-mar says go to the cylinder, specifically the front head bolt as the wire/plug seems to "fall" there the easiest, at least for me.
Had another thought as some on this forum have had problems with the kick stand switch and bypass it.
I'm in the process of a modified subframe project and have considered doing a bypass just to make the changes easier...

PS An electrical problem may be a frustrating experience, don't get tweeked. It's not likely to be an expensive repair and that's a good thought to hold on to!

there is a relay on most of the mz bikes
relay 19 it supplies power to cdi box

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2085

the green wire clip on to it and ground if bike works kill sw side stand sw neutral sw ????
if that is not it then jump red/white to red /black with a double male spade connector
that is a total relay bypass
if that does not fix
pm me on site and we will see how i can help
