Oil Drain Plug

Postby mad hatter » Sun Feb 01, 2009 4:25 pm

Hi Guys
I am a bit pissed off with myself ,I changed my oil the other day and noticed a leak under the bike , i suspected that i had the oil drain plug washer on wrong but rather than drain the oil and seat it correctly . i tightend it, still leaking so i tightened it even more . you guessed it, i snapped the F@#king thing .
I live in the states so Mz parts are a problem . Does anyone know what comparable part will fit a Mz Baghira 2001, oil drain plug.
Moral of the story , don't be a lazy dumbass
Thanks steve

Sure would be nice to see a Scottish flag under the Edinburgh. I'm originally from Bilston, just south of Edinburgh. Where are you at funmonkee?

hi,
I done the same thing my self a few years ago, Ended up going to a couple of hydraulics companies to get a banjo bolt to suit and i tried everywhere without luck. Eventually, a local company sorted through their box of old imperial stuff and a managed to wangle a bolt with some numpy washers or whatever they call them to get me through until i get the genuine part.

This part was in there for a couple of years. I did speak to a few mz mechanics, and they said that they have never seen any swarf / debris caught up in the mesh screen. so get to your local hydraulics firm and have a nose through their parts bin......

Good luck

@Mad Hatter
I'm orginally from Lady Nairne area in Edinburgh, but moved out to Loanhead for more space ( garage and garden :D )

The weather up here isn't great. Had a tumble in the snow/ice today. My own fault for filtering through Edinburgh traffic. Now need a replacement clutch lever and bush guards..

I have the EXACT same gasket part number right now too. And I think I had them reference an XT600 from 1995 or whatever the newest year in the states was.
Also, for the oil pipe connection at the motor I have the o-ring part # 93210-10096, came in a pack of 5. It wasn't an exact match but it's close enough to work, have no idea what they came off of, they just went in back and looked
