Hey Chip. Thanks for the kind words. Exhaust uses the headers from the 2-2 system for about the first 14 inches or so, then he cut and welded tubes that repositioned everything toward the center of the bike. Will try to post more pics later.

Take care - M

SV swap a no-go at this point; the SV triples are wider, so the axle and wheel won't line up the way I'd want them to in the stock Mz triples. Oh well, maybe if I get my hands on a set of SV triples ... but at that point, I might as well go R6/GSX-R. But my experience with the stock front wheel has lent a certain urgency to doing SOMETHING with that front end. The difference in the weight of a stock 1st Gen SV axle and the stock Mz axle alone was astonishing.

Possibly Bill in Germany or Galen at Bikeworx could help you sort the front end in the interim. Most people I have heard generally just use different oil and springs
or emulators...possible racetech?
As far as weight is concerned,not a thing except changing wheels I guess....
How'd the paint turn out?

Paint looks good from a distance; perfect for a race bike! Some of the bits are so old and there's so much crap on them that "pretty good" is as good as I can make it.

Forks already have Race Tech emulators and springs. Will just have to live with the weight for a bit.

Minor stuff remains; will post pics when it's back together. Racing in nine days. Woo-hoo!

Michael,
Also interested in your dyno results...any mods to the motor other than exhaust and jets? or are you using different carbs?
Keep the shiney side up!

here just a couple of pics to illustrate the diference betwen the xt600 head and what you have;

You can easily see that the ports are nearly parallel.
