Post your mileage on the 660's

Postby mishko » Fri Dec 17, 2010 5:12 pm

I wonder how many of us with the 660 motor have over 50k miles on their bikes. Will start with my green 1996 Skorpion sport, other than regular oil changes it is entirely stock and pushing 46000k miles without a single problem.Throughout my ownership of this bike, many others of various shapes and sizes have come and gone, the skorpion is the only one I have never had the desire to let go of, still puts a huge grin on my face every time I throw a leg over it's saddle. I hate to admit that I have yet to adjust the valves....not even once  .

bought my 1997 660 traveller in june of 2009
it had 5825 miles on it.. it now has 8200 in dec 2010

the past owners only rode it 490 miles a year avg
and some one had modified it to the point it was almost unrideable
i am just now getting it sorted out

2002 Tour, bought in August, 2009 with 297mi on the clock...ended with 5400mi in May, 2010 (flood victim and I haven't tried to get it going again, yet).
No problems up until I parked it.
2001 Traveller, bought in May, 2010, 14500mi. Just about to hit 20k soon.
Needed a carb cleaning and brake work.

for my 1994 Tour, over 80tkm (50tmls) wghen I sold it and it is still going strong, now only on the race track.
Still the same crank, conrod, valves, guides...
My SZR has over 50tkm with no problems and haituao revving over 8000, sometimes to 9.
I lost track of the red one.
The green one spent the better part of its life with an Odo, so I cannot say but that engine has been "tampered with" far too much to be of any interest here.
Customer's engine here on the bench with 35tkm looks like new inside; cross-scorcing of the honing stones is still strongly visible. He pushes it, tho.

Like I always say, XTZ engines are unbreakable as long as you treat them right: no low RPM under load, proper time to warm up, decent oil.
