side stand not returning in right position

Postby handsomejackuk » Mon Sep 03, 2012 4:47 pm

does anyone have a problem with their side stand not retracting to the allocated position on the little bump stop on the rear pillion peg holder ???

because for ages mine just dont seem to want to retract properly i cant work out whether it is the stand or the bracket that is bent, or the pillion peg holder...

I have painted the whole assembly tonite, and have had to put a rubber washer under the footpeg holding bolt, and some heat shrink around the side stand to stop it marking my freshly painted stand.. i will take some pics later and post them for you to see...

YES!!!!! I have trained myself to kick it up and just push it the rest of the way with my hand. Considered bypassing the "kickstand safety switch" but got used to using my hand. If you figure out a fix please post.

My side stand switch is gone ages ago.... it played up when i was in isle of mam tt 2 years ago so lives in a ditch somewhere outside ramsey hairpin....and is now permanently shorted out... :D

I have just painted my sidestand... and put a small piece of heatshrink tubing where it now touches the rear pillion peg to act as a buffer...works well enough
