Dyno results - Bittersweet

Postby edfmaniac » Fri Oct 05, 2012 11:37 pm

Well I just thought I was approaching 50hp on my Skorpion after bolting up those new headers but the eddy current dyno I just went to today says otherwise. The best we could muster as is was just a tick under 40, which is equal to between 44 and 46hp on most Dynojets, depending on who you ask. Forty-six isn't bad at the wheel considering the factory rates the engine for 48, but I was hoping for an even 50 after putting the header on and assuming the carb set up was close. That's the bitter. The sweet is that the exhaust gas analyzer said that I need to do some needle and jet work, as well as replace the petcock. 50 should be attainable before opening up the motor but I likely will have the top end work done before I return to the dyno.

The petcock is ordered and I think the needles are pretty close now. After going for a little spin, she's way snappier than before. I've come a long way since running on 3/4 of a carb. LOL!

A guy in the Netherlands had what he called Project 60,he had done a new 101mm 11:1(I think) piston,Hot Cam stage 1,Remus Cup Exhaust(larger head pipes) with stock carbs, K&n filters
His numbers were 59 at the wheel..then again on which dyno I dont know.......
Our Own Morbidelli17 before he went to a single 41FCR was only 46hp with stock dialed in carbs.
So your in the ball park...look at the tunebike.de site at their dyno numbers...interesting

I've been sitting on a 102mm Weisco 11:1, matching cylinder and Stage 1 cam for about a year but they will be installed very soon. :D
