Skorpion Sport Back Current Barrier Diode

Postby Windmill » Thu Jan 03, 2013 6:16 am

Further to my previous posts, I thought it may be of use to picture the offending article and it's location in the loom. The diode is the small black cylinder above the blue wire, it should have two blue wires (neutral light/switch) attached to the left terminal and a brown plus a brown/white attached to the right. Two wires were found disconnected on stripping and the whole covered in thick green verdigris/corrosion neatly bridging the connection. Surprisingly having cleaned it up the diode functions perfectly! These are of course taped up inside the loom so are not visible

Thanks, pleased to sort that problem out.....just the rest of the loom to tidy up now. Having said that, there is apparently at least one other somewhere in the loom, no idea where at this stage though. If everything works ok when I'm done I'll leave well alone :?

these diodes and the attack of the green crud has been a problem on all 3 of my mz bikes

and a 1971 BMW R75/5 i had also suffered from the corrosion as well
the quality of the copper wire and spade lugs IS NOT GOOD

but i live in an area where the weather is very wet a lot
