CV carburetor question.

Postby edfmaniac » Fri Mar 15, 2013 3:43 am

I watched and read a few videos and articles on CV carbs but none of them are quite like the one on our bikes. My question is how does the diaphragm lift the slide? The best video that I watched showed a carb that had a pathway leading from behind the butterfly valve into the chamber above the diaphragm. That makes sense to me. Our carbs have nothing leading to the top chamber. The only way I could get the slide to operate was by blowing in the big line that used to go to the airbox. Is that line critical to the operation of the carb because I had cut it off at some point, I think because I read that you were supposed to. Can anyone refresh my memory on that, as well as answer the question as to how the CV slide is powered?

Thanks

As I understand it , that slide is vacuum operated through a venturi on the slide. There is also a vacuum line cross the back from the left carb, The tune bike kit has a modified venturi fit into the slide that accelerates the flow which allows for improved response.
The tube u cut off is a vent so it matters not a lot...mine was removed years ago with no bad effects
