Idea of value

Postby plasticmac12 » Sun Apr 07, 2013 3:51 am

Guys can anyone give me an idea of value for my Baggy. Bought it last year for £1700. It's a 2003 in metalic grey 6300 miles and in very nice condision. Got its mot up in May, which I don't think will be a problem. It has a slip-on but I still have the original exhaust which is almost like brand new and the bike is in its oringinal state. Want to sell it / don't want to sell it.
would be nice to know. Here's some pic's

Thanks for the feed back guys.
In answer to Handsomejack.
Yes it did. They used to be about 20mins from where i stay. It's flats now.
I'm told they need to be serviced often. I suppose that depends on how heavily there used or does it.
Den.
Because its been tucked up in it wee winter bed for so long. I'm starting to forget how good it felt last year. I should really let it speak to me again. Got a really good new battery to go in. The last one was a toy. I often wondered why it laboured slightly when the weather started to turn cold. This should make a difference. I have to say I was getting slighly seduced with the KTM 690smc. Thats why I mention want to sell / don't want to sell. Do you sell many bikes on the forum. I would have thought that these are the right people who'd appreciate them more and need less convincing

bikes are getting to be a hard sell in my area..
one dealer told me his new and used street bike sales stinks
lot of guys here have stopped riding street because traffic is so bad
they're afraid
there going to get ran over on them by a distracted car driver

i have became a fan of riding back streets to work
we are getting an influx of people from other parts of the usa into the area
and they drive like MAD MEN

i retire from driving school bus this summer and i am glad its over
before someone runs into me or runs in front of me and i squish them

Just sold my 53 plate baggy on 22,000Kms for £1100 to a mate, after a year of not trying very hard to sell it, at around £1400. Advertised on here and a couple of other forums with some pictures, but never got round to doing a proper advert. Had one time waster, and typically some interest just as I promised it to my mate. I think that this is going to be one of those "I wish I'd never sold it" bikes. Not as tidy as yours though.

But the good news is that now I have the cash, I can do the Stella Alpina rally next year. :D Once I figure out how to break that to the wife, that is.

Best bet is in MCN I reckon, if you really want to sell. They did a decent report on the baggy as an "also consider" when they did a feature on buying some other dual sport second hand, and their buyers guide on the Baggy is very positive.
Baghira 660 for the road, CCM 404 for green laning. Singles rock!

Hello I repair and sell bikes. Your bike is worth whatever someone will pay for it. In the present market its a hard sell. Your bike is probably worth around £1500 to £2000. Depending how bad someone wants it. I bought an 02 with 13,000 miles on it last year for £1300. There are several on ebay just now with a spares or repair project at over 700 quid with 8 bids on it.
A lot of people are hanging on to their bikes because they dont want to take a loss. However the loss is across the board so the next bike you buy will be being sold at a loss also, so you win that way. Hanging on to it for a better price isnt sensible as the prices are not set to get better for years, so it will be worth less at the end of the summer or next year.
Swings and round a bouts. Dont sell it you know you shouldnt. cheers Mick

Guys. Thanks to you all for your advice but I've put it up on Ebay yesterday. I've already had two notes of interest and its up for 7 days only. It was only after the notes of interests came in I felt I was losing something. I brought it out of winter storage last Saturday.(what was a really nice day) put the new battery in. Check the oil and fluid levels and and gave it a kick in the guts. Spluther, spluther bang. Thought, Bugger. The carbs. Went to start taken of the trims. Then I noticed. I'd turn the fuel cock off when she went away for the winter. Got some fuel in and away it went. Well pleased. Took it out for an hour and because of that hour it felt good and remebering how good, Im feeling. If I don't get a good offer...........i'll be keeping it for a while yet.

I bought this bike from plasticmac12 and I couldn't be happier - the only downside is I don't have a license yet so I have yet to take it out for a spin which is driving me nuts

Going to have a wee look through this forum as it seems like there is a lot of valuable info here and im interested in adding some acerbis handguards and possibly a tail tidy :-D

Hey

Welcome, I've got the same colour as yours :D

dont forget to turn the petrol tap to off when your not using it!

I've found dragging the rear brake, lightly, before hitting the front brakes makes for a smoother braking experience, preferably using planning and gear changes *blip the throttle, instead of much braking.

Good luck with the license!
