There was a test for it, run a magnet past it and it makes voltage (how much - dont recall right now, but its on here somewhere.
Otherwise it should be 500 ohm resistance between its terminals. Its a hall effect sensor.
When it dies - it will start and run fine when cold, but die when warm.
Of course it can go so bad, it wont even start.
