Unfortunately I left my keys in the ignition with it in the on position. Charged the battery, wouldn’t start, thought my battery was u/s so changed to a new battery. Can’t remember 100% which side of the bike is the pos terminal or negative. I thought the positive was side stand side . Bike wouldn’t start still dead as a dodo , lights and horn worked. But starter button just dead.
Just need to check I’ve got battery right way round before I start looking at electrics etc.
Any ideas help etc please . It’s a 96 mastiff .
Thanks in anticipation

on my traveller number 10 ground wire from engine case near starter to minus// with a small brown wire
from wire loom on left side to minus

battery plus uses big wire to starter relay
and check all the fuses

relay 19 or 30 can cause problems on rt125 models and 660 models
it does the same job on both bikes just numbered different

its easy to spot it carry's all the power in the bike and has a red /white wire
and a red/black wire
1 of these wires will test +12 when the battery is installed the other will show
12v if the key is on both needs to show 12 or the relay contacts are bad
bike needs to be in neutral and kill button in run and do check the fuses
read this link for wiring drawing
we will get it sorted i have been playing with electrical stuff since 1952
and 16 years looking at the wires on my mz's fall apart.. the rt125 wiring started to fall apart the first week :smt006

Thanks Dave so is the -be on the battery on the side stand side, I’ve got a wiring diagram , I was just hoping if I had the battery on the right way that would be a good start . I’ll give it a coat of looking at later this week and try and work it out .

my bike has been modified to hold a bigger battery so some of the stuff
has moved but minus seems to be on the left as the short brown wire is too short
for it to reach a right side battery post
