Hi all

I'm tyring to diagnose a slight problem with my Baggy. I've just a had a look through my handbook and it lists 3 kinds of NGK spark plug for use, (list below). Just wondered if anyone could advise which one's best?

NGK DPR 8 EA - 9
NGK DPR 9 EA - 9
NGK DPR 9 EV - 9

The problem relates to starting, it doesn't want to idle until hot (approx 2 miles ride) choke on/mid/off and the air temprature doesn't seem to effect it. The prob started after a service so have a feeling they've changed the plug type (just a hunch at the mo).

Any thoughts wiil be great.

p.s. getting fed up with holding on the thottle open at traffic lights, scaring the OAPs.

If you think the plug was changed for the wrong one during a service, take a look. I use a NGK DPR 8 EA - 9 on my Baggi and it starts fine.

Thanks Keith. Checked the plug, has NGK DPR 8 EA - 9, looks ok. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Use the bike every day, seems to have happened at last dealer service, mentioned it to them and got the usual "they all do that". Quite hard to demonstrate as my bike is fine by the time I've driven to the dealers.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

if the dealer set the fuel to air on a meter it wont start very well
my rt125 and saxon tour are really hard to start till i backed out
the fuel to air screw on both of them
now there so rich the epa will fine me but the damm things will start
and run


the epa has its head stuck you know where
they still allow 2cycle mopeds and scooter and weedeaters
if they would ban them we could run the rest of the stuff rich enough
to get it started
the price of natural gas went up here in wv so the wood stoves
got put back in service and on a cool morning you can choke on the smoke 2 million wood stoves cant be good for the air quailty
yech! hope the wind blows due east so all the politicians can choke on it
when it blows in to Washington DC they own the natural gas companys

I thought it might be the mixture. I've had a good look around the carbs and I can't find the mixture screw. Can somebody give me a pointer as to where it is.

also make sure there is no vacuum leak.

no, they don't all do that. drop it off overnight, they should be held accountable if the problem was not there before.

I am a tech, and would have no problems seeing you again if I messed something up.

mine starts right up, and can turn the choke off within 10 secs, and ride away with no problems. that is what the manual says you shold do.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to appear thick but how do I go about checking for a vacuum leak? Any pointers greatly received.

Anyone know what the difference between these plugs is and in what circumstances you would choose between them?!
