Hi was wondering if it was possible to modify the standard cable choke and make it a push pull type no cable .

Yes. With a construction like in a small toggle clamp, pulling where the cable pulls: Image
Or maybe just use a lighter spring & friction, as done in other carbs.

You can buy these generic ones easily enough. (I`m not saying this particular one fits) or modify you current one by having a loop of cable to pull on.

Yes you pull the cable to choke, but then choke has to stay on, without pulling - until you push it back. If you want that, I think you need some trickery. Ah well, maybe not on that carb.

Hi.

Mine doesn`t need to stay on once started ( it is the modern equivalent of a tickler after all rather than a true choke and pretty crude with it!)
All of the generic ones i`ve seen have a two-position notched rod that will keep it in place, and they have all been the same piston diameter!
I`ll take a look at what i`ve got and get back to you if you wish.

Cheers.

I forgot to add this last time -

Check this out, a list of bikes that use the same one, over to you. - https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamah ... 4371-01-00
