HI,IVE SET THE VALVES,CHANGED THE OIL 10W40(SEMI SYN)CHANGED THE PLUG NGK IRIDIUM(
AND THE MASTIFF STILL SPINS OVER FOR A WHILE BEFORE STARTING = IM THINKING OF CHECKING THE VOLTAGE AT THE PRIMARY SIDE(REROUTE WIRING) OF THE COIL WHEN CRANKING IN CASE IF THERE IS TOO MUCH OF A DROP TO THE COIL RESULTING IN A WEAK SPARK,MAY EVEN FIT A PERFOMANCE COIL/BATTERY,
ANY HELP GREATLY RECIEVED,THANKS,

my rt125 is hard to start if any throttle is applied and needs choked unless its a very hot day

When my Baggy had problems starting, I changed the battery (approx £20)
This sorted the problem, batteries only last 2 years max
Less if the bike is not used regularly

A useful tip I find helps with starting is to:
turn the engine over for 3 or 4 rotations
Leave it a few seconds, then try again (this usually works)

It works better for me than just turning it over continuously until the battery dies (not long)

Another thing woth checking is for battery drain
easyist way to check is disconect 1 leg of the battery and put an ameter between the connector and the terminal
It should be a very low amp reading (with ignition off)

THANKS FLIPPER,JUST FOUND CULPRIT,BLOODY CHOKE CABLE-PILOT-JET ALL GUNDGED UP,JUST SPRAYED LUBE AND BLEW-OUT WITH AIRLINE/COMPRESSOR,LUBE REFITTED CHECKED = MINT

rather than start a new post,have a simaler problem with mine,bearing in mind it's a new bike,i've been away for several days and came home today and went for a spin,is it normal if left for about a week for the thing to be reluctant to start.it does atart eventualy then after that it's fine,or is it just life

hey dude,something to try,follow your choke cable back to the carb,undo the brass type nut (12-13mm) pull the choke pilot jet out-its fixed on the end of the cable,spray with wd40-lube and blow out with an airline,thats if yours was as bad as mine?,but god does it make a difference,cured mine,if you check the first post on this thread,i done everything-full service-valves-everything,i have only had the bike for a few weeks too,mine from cold every morning(its garaged-integral in house)it would spin over an over,eventually start,but strange thing when started it would be ok all day-no choke start straight away

thanks for that will give it a go,choke cable is very easy to operate but possibly may be a bit gumed up in carb body.first time i've not used the bike eveyday since i bought it so could be it needs a clean.
