So I put about 150 miles on Monday and was sure ready to get off by the time I got home. I noticed after 50 miles that I need a new seat. Anyone know of options for a more comefortable yet still good looking seat?

Nothing bolt-on (other than maybe one of those gel-pads or bead thingies).

So far, the best solution seems to be to send/give your current seat to a custom shop to have it reshaped or just rebuilt with better materials. Not sure where you are, but here's one done by a custom shop in Seattle, WA that looks great:

I believe that Kyle, the guy whose bike appears on that page used to hang around these parts...

Can recommend a custom seat if you can afford it, I can do hundreds of miles on mine and still feel fresh when I get there. :-D

Sue, what kind of seat is that? I currently use one of those gel things, and it gets to be a pain lugging it around sometimes.

I had the same problem last year when i got the bike so i only used it like 4 times.
I had to do something or sell it as i couldn't take it ,also too cheap to spend hundreds on a custom seat so i ended up with this off ebay for $50
now i love this bike !

Xzotic 'Glove' Solo Seat for Late Model Harley Dressers

This item is being brought to you by
Bike Parts Outlet ...
Family owned and operated for over 30 years !

******************************************
**You are bidding on a new Xzotic 'Glove' solo seat seat for Harley-Davidson FLHS, FLHR, FLHT and FLT models. Please read our terms listed below and bid accordingly.

**We received this in a dealer buy out and all of the information we have on it is listed here. In the fourth picture you can see the Custom Chrome label on this with the part number 02103. The last picture shows the listing for this out of the 2006 Custom Chrome catalog. This listing states that this will fit the models listed above. There are no years listed on the label or in the catalog so we are not sure what years this will fit. Consider all of this before bidding.

**Per the catalog: These unique seats are designed for the lowest seating position available. The closed cell foam has a leather like outer texture eliminating the need for a separate leather or vinyl seat cover. Xzotic has also eliminated the hard seat base that is usually used in seats, Instead, the shape of the pan is molded into the bottom of the seat foam allowing this seat to "fit your bike like a glove". Features suction cups on bottom of seats for quick and easy installation and has 2 1/2" of cushion for comfort.

**What you see in the pictures is what you will receive. Aside from the seat itself there is nothing included with this at all. You will need to provide anything else required to mount this separately.

**This seat is new and in great shape. We did not see any damage on it at all. Please keep all of this in mind when bidding.

**The 2006 catalog listing for this shows it as retailing for $99.99 and it would most likely be even higher today. Our starting price is well below that.

**This item is returnable: Subject to our terms outlined below,
less a $10.00 restock fee.
***BEFORE YOU BID ... Please review our terms ****

wow, great looking seats! I would love to do something myself and save a little $ but i need to make sure I can do it where there is room available for my girlfriend to ride on the back. not that she rides with me every day, but we like to get out and ride every so often. Thanks for the links and ideas, I need to do something thats for sure

I'm sorry I'm not much help there, it came with the bike. The previous owner said he used a standard custom seat place, cost around £300 though.... bit expensive but its a dream. Firm enough not to sag and keeps it shape well, but no numb rear end, and theres plenty of padding in the pillion seat too. Pillion seat looks a bit small, but not had any complaints so far. I'm still in touch with the previous owner, so can find out where it was done if you like

I'm still here! :D

here's another picture.. $400 at Rich's, as usual, custom seats are worth every single penny. Keep in mind mine looks like that cuz I designed it as a solo seat with extra leg room designed in too, you can get yours done anyway you like.

Sue, I'd definitely like to know who did that seat and how to get in touch with them.

I think that's the Hepco-Becker aftermarket rack, no kman?

BTW, kman, good to see you still hanging around, but how did your bike turn from beautiful gloss red to stealth flat black? A generous application of spray-on bed liner? Also, what's that strap for on your seat? Tank bag?

yes that is the H-B rack. I got it at Touratech, they didn't even know they had them in stock until some guy went in back and looked. I think SF Moto can still order them. Plenty stout and I've strapped quite a few different things on it. Have a small Pelican case mounted to it right now.

Good eye. The gloss red was never really that beautiful. My buddy's '04 black bike has much better looking paint than mine ever did. I was just messing around and did the front fender with Dupli-Color bedliner, liked it so much did the whole bike. The strap across the seat is for the Wolfman Enduro tank bag.
