I have been tinkering with my Mastiff over 10 years I had it, and engine-wise I now have a Supertrapp silencer on the standard headers (via a custom link-pipe), a Dynojet stage 2 carb kit on the original carbs, and have ditched the original airbox and replaced it with a pair of K&N style conical filters on silicone hoses.
For the sake of comparison, I think you can class the Supertrapp as equivalent to a straight through type silencer.
Can anyone offer any advice on carb set up before I take it to a dyno and spend lots of money having it set up properly??
