I was in the midst of planing a long ride on my 1000s from Miami to maybe Albuqurque NM and back, as I was loitering on ebay I see this 95 Skorpion sport being sold by an elderly original owner that happens to be a proffesional mechanic, the bike has about 30k miles on it and according to it's pictures and owner's words in ( Perfect cosmetic and mechanical condition).Long one short I was all over the buy it now button, and am now the owner of this lovely lean thumper, equipped with a Penske rear shock and a steering damper, I'm sure some of you must've seen it on ebay. I now must fly in to Colorado where the bike is located and ride it back home, I have to admit that i have not been this exited since I took out the prom queen out on our first date back when. My question; other than the usual items that need to be checked in preperation for a long ride..ie tires, chain and sprockets, lights and oil change, valve clearance adjustments. is there any item that requires special attention or adjustments, any particular tools or parts that I need to carry along. Thank you all very much in advance. :smt006

Have got a SkorpionTour, do lots of longish rides.Just do the usual checks as you mentioned , fit a tank bag to lean on and take the weight off your wrists(strap on style as you have a plastic tank and magnetics don't stick),and maybe a lambswool on the seat to relieve the aching butt, cruise along at 60mph and you'll get some really good economy. Motor has a sweet spot at 4000-4500 rpm where vibes are at a minimum and you can sit there all day. MZ's are no rocketships but they will lope along at a steady pace and are lots of fun in the twisty bits. Enjoy your ride. Russell, from Oz.

Thank you Russel, I,m going to buy a pair of gel shorts from a motorcycle shop then, you are right the seat looks like a maxi pad if you'll pardon the expression. I have never ridden a skorpion and my intention realy is to soak up the scenery along the way and take the road less traveled so to speak, so if it's great to know that it likes to cruise at 60, thats perfectly good by me. your advice is much appriciated.Cheers. :D

You'll find the seat surprisingly comfortable. One thing you might want to bring is some spare tail light bulbs 1157. The bike eats them up.

spare tail light bulbs

one way to get good ones is to chase a junker truck and recycle the bulbs from cars
made before 1975 there made in usa bulbs and will last ----- the new bulbs are junk
the last school bus i drove used 1157 and blew them all the time
got tired of trips to the bus work shop and dropped in a set from a 66 ford
and they were still in it when they retired it 3 years later
dave

and in this day of high prices very cheap as in FREE
