I have an email into Grahams to see what they have, but does anyone know what bike the Skorpion's round headlight comes off of? Any other sources for this part? It sure looks like a BMW Airhead's head light...no? Thanks for any info.

Yamaha Diversion and SR use the same light.

Hey thanks guys, I'm on it. I did find a few SR500 lens' but they are from the late 70's. I wonder if these will be as bright as whats on the bike now... you know older technology etc?

Also, I did find this at JC Whitney, anyone know if it would work.....7" round with bulb upgradeable to 100 watt. At only 20 bucks it might be worth a try.

did you read the fine print
in the jc whiplash ad
NOTE: 5-3/4" round headlight fits fairing mounts only; will not fit in OEM headlight case.

a head lamp shell from a old vetter faring makes a good one ..check a local breaker if in the usa
most have a pile of vetter parts and i think vetter does have some repair parts on his web site
not sure if he has the head lamp mount
dave
vetter farings in the late 80's had a nice head lamp shell

SRX600 also use the same light. The earlier Suzuki Bandit 600/1200 is also a close match

David,

I'm sorry, I was thinking this is a 7" headlight. If it is a 5 and 3/4 then I'm s.o.l. on that one. Anyone know if the older SR500 or SRX600 lens will function as well as the stock MZ? Anyone know if it'll fit right into place or have to modify something?

FYI Grahams has the lens with a "silver holder" not chrome surround for 87 pounds!

SRX 600--- Thanks for the heads up, I'll see if I can't find one of those or SR500 floating around some where.

Thanks all!

(TRAVELLER) Replacement Lens for Skorpion Headlight?

Hey, while we're on the subject of headlights...

Now that the nights are closing in again, I've just remembered how CRAP the headlight is on my Traveller. I mean deadly useless. I have to stick to lit roads if I'm out when it's dark or else go at no more than about 30mph cos I can't see a darn thing.

Is there anything out there that I can replace the low beam projector with? I seem to recall vaguely hearing a rumour a few years ago that the low beam off the BMW GS1200 was the same size, but I'd like confirmation of that before I go around spending BMW money! Anyone?? Or any other suggestions?

Bringing up an old post here....

I've tried various 7 inch motorcycle headlights, it seems the MZ Skorpion Tour (2000) has roughly a 7 & 1/4 inch light. The Yamaha SR, SRX etc are all 7". I do have the numbers of the original Bosche lens, perhaps I can source one that way.

Numbers on original lens are;

Bosche
HCR
E1 20

0214572
SAE M83DOT

1 305 604 017

Anyone know what these numbers mean? Any other ideas? Thanks!

Ducati Monster uses the same headlight as the Tour.
Traveller and Sport Cup use the Yamaha headlight from a Diversion ( as Bill noted)
I 'm using a 100 watt headlight on my Traveller and it's a little better, but not great.

Thanks for the help hb7. I did find a few monster headlights, of course they're pricy but a good option and a good lead. I found a reference to replacing the lens on a Monster with a BMW R100S lens (part no. 63121358147).

Anyone know if the lens can be seperated from the reflector on the Tour or is it all one piece?

Addition info for those who are interested.
In the following URL is a list of partnumber for headlights.
http://www.bosch.co.za/content/langu...fthand_low.pdf

On page A79 you find the parts for Ducati and BMW headlights (same size).

Yes, lens separates on the Tour. Use a chopstick to pry it off.

The big Bosch lens is available separately from Guzzi and Ducati parts houses...
