Salt !

Postby Grahamgfr » Sun Dec 21, 2008 1:16 pm

I normally wash my bike every couple of weeks and keep it mint but the last month I haven't had chance. It was filthy and I could see bits of fur so I took it to the jet wash today and cleaned it.

Everything came up clean except my rims....they look knackered with pitting everywhere !!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it they were perfect before !
The bloody annoying thing is i've been harping on to my boss about putting anti-corrosion spray on his new Blade ! Soooo wish I'd done it myself now !!!!

What should I do ? What should I clean them with ? How can I get them back to before ? Their standard Baghira moto wheels.

They are ruined now. You should sell them to me...Cash waiting  How much?

Seriously, take them off and rub them down. Then either get them painted or use clear lacquer to protect them. All the best Paul

PS I AM LOOKING FOR A SPARE PAIR OF WHEELS...SO I WOULD PAY CASH FOR YOUR WHEELS

I purchased a polishing kit and cleaned up the rims myself. The kit cost £15 and came with 3 four inch mops, a mandril that goes into a hand drill and 3 grades of polishing compound. The wheels look pretty good for a home effort but the only thing is i never laquered them which means that if the bike is ridden on our salt covered winter roads they will look as bad as ever within a few days,so during the winter the bike gets left in the garage.

You ride your MZ in the wet??????

This is terrible! They should be venerated, worshipped, wrapped in fleece as soon as the outside temperature drops below 15 degrees....... :smt007 :smt007 :smt007

You should go and buy something horrible and Chinese, only to be used in horrible conditions when salt and crap is on the roads (they deserve it) and leave your beautiful big 'un at home, snug in its warm, dry cocoon.

Subjecting one of the classic big MZ singles to SALT? I want to cry ...........

 Do what I do and ride a crappy Kawasaki 125 in winter. That thing was rusty when it was new!
