Master cylinder for use with Brembo P30/34 calipers.

Postby djsbriscoe » Sun Jul 05, 2009 11:14 am

Hi,
I'm Just pondering fitting a Brembo P30 or P34 brake caliper to my Skorp if I can find one on fleabay or new. Which master cylinder is best to use with it?
Are there any available that can use a remote reservoir and adjustable span levers? Is it safe to use the oem master cylinder with a Brembo caliper?
I might fit a Gilles variobar set in August so I may have to disturb the front brake hose (it may need extending) anyway. This may be a chance to fit an improved front brake. Also is there such a thing as a bango extension available that enables the brake hose to be extended at the master cylinder?
Any thoughts?

David.

picture of my no cost change
the black brace in the middle is a piece of usa size gas pipe perfect fit
the gps mount is recycled alum plate
the holders for gps mount from a brace on a set of trail bike bars
and the brake line had to be unbolted from the fork and rerouted
electric wires required some rerouteing
handle bars recycled from my 95 saxon tour

cost me usd almost $7.00 for new watch band to hold gps on the bracket i made today
every thing else was recycled scrap or old used stuff from my spares bin
but a lot of shop time went into it----

Hi,
I've considered doing the same to my bike but I'm not sure it would pass the MOT test here in the UK. I don't want to give the MOT inspector an excuse to fail the bike or issue an 'advisory'.
Do you have an equivalent to an annual roadworthiness test in the USA? From the little I've read so far it seems that they are dependent on what state you live in.
I'd be a bit worried about the security of the bar ends in the clamps unless the bar ends where serrated and the clamps as well. I could be being a bit over cautious
but that's just me. Let us know how you get on with your setup.

we have an inspection but it is basic .. lights work horn exhaust pipe installed muffler mine usually so quiet they do not even look at the exhaust and tires and brakes
the bars were 2 piece to start with and that made in italy bar holder is not going any where
just need to slip the tubes up a bit this winter so the clamps go all the way on the fork tubes

we had a fellow in the state senate one year try to get one passed that you had to have a mc shop
do all your work ---the bill did not make it and the next time he ran 300 bikers were working for the fellow running against him
and that took care of that.....

HI,

Brembo PS 12, 13 or 16 all work, PS 13 is the best choice for a sinlge rotor. It can be had with separate or integral reservoir.
PS13 or 16 with tank:

same with separate tank:

Adjustable lever as a matter of course with all Brembo pumps; if you get one with a standard lever, you can simply order the adjustable lever as spare part:

the PSC 16 is different and quite a bit more expensive since it is the present state of the art. I do not think it better:

It is too large for a single rotor anyway. I have used it and removed it again. I also had it on the racer with dual rotors.
Or you can fit an after market milled lever such as
Gilles

or ABM

for either there is a matching clutch lever.
