Anyone changed the useless headlights on a mastiff? Mine are so bad i think if i strapped a cycle torch on the front i would see more, not good in the winter ride home from work! I was thinking of fitting a set of Bates or Dominator type pair of headlights but will i need to change the wiring and/or fit a relay? Any help would be good before i buy a set

No help for your problem, but I too have a Mastiff and think the lights are rubbish. Came home the other night and had to slow to a walking pace to save going off the road. Wondered if there are any uprated bulbs to try? Feel cheated as the Baggie gets an H4 which is so much better and easily improved.

Further to my (not) very helpful comments, I have ordered some halogen bulbs to fit the original headlamps, if they're any better I'll let you know.

How did your halogen bulbs work out? Where did you get them from?
Luckily I don't have to use mine at night, but the bulbs don't seem to last very long due to vibration...

Life is never easy! The halogen bulbs were too long! The 'pip' on the end of the glass meant that you could not fit the bulb holder back onto the light, grrrrrrrrrrrrr!
I found some 40/45 upgrades, cheap but not much of an improvement on dip, a bit better on main

i put a mz rt125 light on an old bmw and it works well
may find a lamp and bucket from a r65 LS or r45 bmw
at a used parts dealer
the bucket on /5 bmw is smaller than later /6 /7 bmw
and a r65LS lens and reflector convert it to H4 bulb
may need the power plug socket from the bmw as mz plug may be too big
in the lamp bucket
dave
note! front head lamps are not cheap at least good ones....
