Postby tall guy » Sun Dec 20, 2009 6:56 am

Hi all was on here a few years ago when I was looking at a baghira but ended up with a ktm duke 2 great bike but now have a tdm 850 , am really fancying something diffrent so want a baghirah again want to make a kinda special ! I've read a lot of the threads about engine tuning and yes I plan to do the fcr carb and exhaust and stuff nothing to major like overboring or owt but was wanting to lighten it a bit so was wondering any of u remove stuff like the headlight ,mirrors and can u remove the tubing at the front that the headlight is fixed to ? And maybe lighter wheels not sure yet ! I'm a Sunday rider don't get out much so 1500 2000mls a year would b a lot for me and neva at night hence the want to get rid of the headlight as its extra weight ? Any ideas welcom thanks in advance :) sorry bout the punctuation I'm on ma phone !

Sure you can remove lots of stuff and still have bike that runs, but will it still be street legal without lights etc?

Other than that, go for it, remove anything you dont need or replace with something less heavy. Allmost anything is possible and only your wallet, fabrication skills or imagination will be the limiting factor.

get a big box and put all the take offs in it

later when you sell it it will bring more as the fellow looking to buy may want a stock
bike
i hate modified bikes
only thing i change is the handle bars so i can stand to ride them
dave

example rt125 uses same air filter as 660 motors
why change it i tried that before i knew both were the same
and all it did was made the gas mileage worse

i would go for a BIG brake lamp at least ...
here in my state West Virginia got to have it all including turn signals after 1972
they made us do the headlamp in 1966 even if you go home before dark

wish they would do some thing about the bicycles here.. i have almost hit 3 of them in the last year at night
with no lights or reflectors

Hi,

yeah the headlight was a bit of a pain to relocate, as i wanted to get it to sit as close to the bars as possible, Eventually, what i had to do was bend the prongs on the Halogen bulb flat, and put seperate crimps on to the bulb terminals, I have comlpetely removed all of the dash board, and associated assewmbly, as i did not find the MZ Speedo very accurate, I have made my own dashboard Neutral light, main beam, indicator idiot lights using l.e.d.s and resistors, I have used a Cycle speedo setup, and this has proved to be very reliable, and accurate,, according to my sat nav they are the same...

Exhaust is a BSM vampire with removable DB killer very loud with Db killer out, also have a Future end can, but dont tend to use that... as far as engine is concerned, only thing i have done is alter the Gearing cant remember what it is now, but top speed is about 90m.p.h, with fearce acceleration for 40-70.... think i went 4 teeth bigger on rear and one tooth larger on front.....

Ditto to all the above. i never liked the tube around the headlight, cropped it all back. (see pics). Used bullet l.e.d's which finish it off and look great head-on (i think)
