Another reason I didn't jump at buying one then (forgot that part). Lots of money for very little change in capacity (if you follow the rules)
I used the Cortec when I rode the Traveller home from New Hampshire. Didn't even have anything in the hard bags...
I was thinking that having the vertical portion of the Venture rack would give me somewhere to easily mount a back-packing tent and sleeping bag (both would be under 20#s) and still have the pillion clear for the Cortec.
I'm also cheap enough to take that example and make something up out of aluminum tubing for a lot less cash...got a friend with a MIG welder and tubing bending tools...
