Choke Relocation on a Baggy?

I had a get-off in the dirt that resulted in snapping the little plastic nub off the choke dial that keeps the choke in place when engaging/disengaging the device. So, not a major deal, the choke still works, but you have to hold it in place now with one hand while turning the dial up or back with the other. I'm wondering if anybody's ever relocated the choke mechanism down to the carb with a lever-type switch?

wha most do, is to simply let a short length of cable hang out under the plastic and put some sort of knob on it to pull. Of course you have to hold as long as you need it, then simply let it snap back in.

or you buy the choke for a xt600E model, must be from the model 1990-95 in the US, works great, only thing is you have to adjust the choke a little bit when you pull it out, otherwise the engine starts to rev up, michael

Good tip--I'll keep an eye out on ebay for that unit--I couldn't find it on the parts microfiche on Bike Bandit, so maybe ebay's my only shot!? \

i try my local yamaha dealer tomorrow to see how much they are... we are thinking of going down on saturday for a run there..... so if they is reasonable i will buy one... i can't wait...

then i get rid of my choke cable... i have to next source a throttle only mechanism then for the other side, and make my own starter and stop button to locate else where...

the plan is to make a custom dash to hide behind my screen... this will house the cycle speedo, and the led lights i alsready have.. and also may wire up a fan overide switch and a trailtech tto temp guage...
