MZ/MuZ Riders

I've tried getting info on this but every thread I read is saying something different. I changed the forks on my Baghira to USD ones that are about a half inch lower than stock. Couple that with the fact that I'm a short-arse, I'm considering lowering the rear suspension a tad if it's not too much hassle. Is it just a case of different dogbones or does the suspension unit need to be replaced?

I'd try longer dog bones...

I bought some longer dogbones from http:www.//bikefarmmv.de for my baghira. I went with the -25mm {128 mm} and with my 33inch inseam my feet are now comfortably on the ground. They also offer different sizes if you are shorter in the inseam.. Very easy to install. Just put a bottle jack between the rear wheel and frame to take the pressure off of the bolt that secure the dogbones to the linkage..Took me 10 minutes start to finish and that included regreasing the needle bearings.

Incidentally Slammer, have you noticed any difference in the handling of the bike? And is the 128mm centre to centre, yeah?

yes,the links were marked 128 center to center.. I have noticed that my steering has slowed a bit due to the changed geometry. I'm going to raise my forks in the tubes to get it to turn better in the near future. Also was looking at some adjustable links from a Hyabusa. If I had to do it over again I would go the adjustable link route to fine tune the rear height . Just saw some on the ebay uk site and they are works of art.

so , whats the ratio between +/- mm on the dog bones to the increase/decrease in seat hight?

im 6/6 and would love my baggy to be alot taller

Are the hole diameters a standard size or is the Hayabusa coincidentally the same? A set of adjustables would be better alright as I just know if I order a set of -25mms from Germany, I'll have needed -15s or -30s or something.
As my new forks are already shorter than the original ones, dropping the rear of mine should be fine.

The original links are 120mm, so 128mm drops it 25mm.

Here is another way to lower the seat, without affecting the suspension. I removed the airbox at the same time, so it may not work if you don't. Drilling a new hole and cutting an inch off the bracing dropped the seat to near level. Before it was slanted towards the gas tank.

I did:
.Longer dogbones 130 I think
.Cut lower subframe strut by 1" and then filled both side with 2 strips of steel so they went right up to the horizontal of theframe, welded and redrilled.
rubber bobin fitted under raer tank bolt to take up gap.
.air box had to go as it woulnt fit
base for electrics made from sheet alloy
.K&N stlye filters fitted to hose not carb to offer protection from weather
.rings have to be fitted to stop rubber collapsing
.Seat had to be cut and plastic welded to change its shape.
.removed seat foam fitted gel pad then put some thin foam on top
.pushed forks through by 2" and fitted billet rised clamps
Changed exhaust new S/S KTM end can and a link pipe
