Baghira spark plug removal

Is there a way to change out the spark plug without removing stuff from the bike? I had a lot of the stuff removed and got a new plug in there, but I am at a loss as to how to do it with the tank and bodywork installed. With an upcoming cross country trip, I could use some pointers.

Gordon,

I use a standard style deep socket that does not have the rubber liner that helps hold the spark plug in the socket.
If I did, the spark plug would stay in the socket and extension. The result would be an assembly that is difficult to remove.
Using the standard deep socket allows me to break loose the spark plug without unthreading it and then remove the socket and extension leaving the spark plug loose but in place.
I then get a 3/8 inch hose, roughly 12 inches long that I slip over the exposed end of the spark plug and finish unthreading it.
For installation I reverse the process.
Note that anti-seize is used on the spark plugs threads.

Regards,
Robert

Any time you use a lubricant with high anti friction qualities like anti seize or moly paste you have to be careful not to over tighten. I like using moly paste on spark plugs but would use anti seize if that was all I had. Use it sparingly near the end threads. Being made up of metals it can foul plugs.

Using the baghira toolkit, it's awkward but can be done once you get the knack. I think you lift the socket with the plug inside and tilt it forward and between one of the rads and frame rail. Once you work it out, practice it a few times to remember it but like I said, it can be done easily once you get the hang of it. And you don't need to remove anything to do it.

If only I had the toolkit. Big f'in hands don't help much either, and for all you young guys, enjoy your eyesight while you have it. G'damn bifocals suck.
