Mastiff fuel tank
Posted: Tue Feb 21, 2012 8:02 amHi folks, the previous owner of my bike has striped the threads on the captive nuts in the tank for holding the seat and front radiator panels on, then drilled them out and stuck some rubber in the hole and used self tappers to hold it in place, which 1, looks shit and 2, aint really a great idea, so without buying a new tank what are my options on repairing this?
I thought about filling the holes with liquid metal then attempting to drill and tap it to M6, no idea if liqiud metal will be to brittle or not though.
Failing that i was thinking i could try and get the old captive nuts out and trying to put new ones in its place, looks easier said than done though.
