Considering a Baghira

Postby djsbriscoe » Sun Jul 22, 2012 9:00 am

I've recently been looking around for a replacement for my RT125. I own a Skorpion Traveller as well but I'd like a bike that is inexpensive to own and above all fun to ride. The RT is a fun little bike but at 6' 2" tall and 15 stone in weight it struggles to get me anywhere.
What are the merits to owning a Baghira in your experience? Can the bike be used off road at all? Can it be fitted with racks and bags for touring (I particularly like Kriega bags-I already have a few US10 and a US20 pack-Wonder if their ADV or Overlander packs would fit a Baghira? http://www.kriega.com/categories/bike-packs/). How is it at negotiating (filtering) through crowded city streets? Is the front AND rear suspension adjustable on the Baghira or just the front?Anything else you like about this bike?Is the insurance cheap? Whats the difference between the Baghira and the black panther?
I like the fact that the skorpion and Baggy have the same engine (tooling and knowhow can be shared). Anything else I need to know before I start looking?
Thanks.

David.

i have owned mine from new since 2008 and find the seat a bit uncomfortable on rides of more than 50 odd miles, though i am the wrong side of 50 :D ,great fun around town, loads of grunt and stops on a sixpence.
i bought the hr black panther enduro which was supplied with both sets of wheels and i go green laning in the winter occasionaly, this also means the supermoto wheels avoid all the crap from riding in the winter.front forks on the hr are non adjustable,(have added adjustable ones to mine but left rear as standard)think the black panther is just that.........black! rear suspension adjustable on all models, full height models are pretty tall in the seat department.

I have a 03 black panther, I love it, good for town and being a bit of a hooligan on, quite agree about the seat. I am the wrong side of 50 but it is a fun bike, and good value too compared to KTM`s etc. I have to make myself take the BM r1100s for a ride instead sometimes.

Kman, if we all had fancy seats like yours we would not be complaining.

Never had a problem with the seat. Toured Wales for 6 days with no problems. I have some Kriega luggage too, goes on a treat as the pilion grab rails offer easy places to strap onto.

Filtering is fine, the bars and mirrors are clear of car mirror height, and of course the tall seat height gives a good view over regular cars.
Baghira 660 for the road, CCM 404 for green laning. Singles rock!
