MZ/MuZ Riders

This bike has 3k miles on it so it sat a lot and all things considered it's been reliable around town here except for one stalling issue where I got it home on full choke which is the only way it would run. I've been reading the applicable posts and am starting to follow the advise given, starting with the petcock filter. I removed the bowl and when I look up I see a round white screen filter. My question is how to remove it so I can see if any crud has collected on the other side. Do I just pry it out from the sides or from the plastic hole in the center of the screen. I'd also like to put a small inline filter from the petcock to the carbs in the short run of fuel line I can access without pulling the tank. Any input would be appreciated. Jim

The round white screen filter is just pressed into the petcock casting.



You can remove it by inserting a thin screwdriver into the hole and carefully catching the edge of the filter.



Filter should come out easily.



The fuel line on some models is very short, what I did was replace it with enough line to form a 'loop' about 100mm (4 in) in diameter with an inline filter in the middle. The loop allows you to raise the tank slightly, which makes removing and refitting the line much easier.

Thanks much Norman for the info and posting the pics. This bike is a treasure, completely unmolested and runs strong so I am treading lightly as I deal with things as parts may be difficult to find. BTW I took your advise and lost the Harley muffler and put the stock on back after reading Bill's post with the performance statistics of the various aftermarket ones versus stock. Jim
