I've been having some sticking issues with the handlebar choke cable so I ordered the Yamaha OEM plunger, starter # 2KF-14371-01-00 and am ready to install it. I got the idea from a post regarding putting one on a Baghira. I took a look at my Tour and it seems real close if I install it as the big choke pull button looks like it will hit the rear petcock/gas tank mounting bolt if extended out in the full choke position. Kind of looks like I'll have to remove the gas tank to get access? Before I start pulling stuff apart and getting myself in trouble can anyone tell me if I can successfully do this without any other alterations? Thanks!

Hi
I can't help you with fitting as I have the cable choke still but I'd be interested as to how you get on as I was thinking of doing the same thing. What price did you get the choke for as when I was researching doing this they weren't cheap.

Can it be done on a 2000 Skorpion Tour? No, not with the Black pull knob installed on the plunger shaft. The petcock blocks it from being pulled out plus the tank has to be forced past it which will bend the plunger shaft. I sat and looked at it for a while and my bright idea was to cut off most of the black pull part of the knob and that did the trick. I can grab what's left of the knob with my first 2 fingers to pull it out and then easily push it in. After the cutting off the pull section of the knob and leaving just a bit of plastic to get my fingers around the tank goes in and out without touching it and it works flawlessly. I'll try to get a close-up picture soon.
