Mastiff rear axle which end ?

Now this may sound like a daft question, but, which end where?

I have had to replace the rear axle on my `Mastiff`, and have noticed that while one end is threaded up to the axle diameter of the shaft the other end is threaded part way and then there is an un threaded section up to the diameter of the shaft of about the same length as the threaded section.

As I hadn`t noticed this when I took the original out I was wondering which end goes where?
to refit the axle the right way round?
cheers Eric.

One side of the wheel will (prob chain side) have a spacer to centralise wheel in the swing arm so that may be the side that has the different size/length, I have had the back wheel out of my Baggy but can`t remember if it is the same as yours.

you learn something new everyday, not really payed much attention to the spindle but as it's mot time next week and need to swap wheels over, nhs tyres fitted at the mo,usually take spindle out and leave it on the side it comes out of along with spacer and nut.
