Tunebike carb spacer ??

Hi.. I've just received a tunebike carb kit for my baghira only to find that the cv carb looks to have a spacer already fitted between the main carb body and the carb top.. Which looks identical in thickness to the tunebike spacer .. When I bought the bike it had a standard exhaust fitted and had only done 2500 miles in 7 years... I got the impression from the guy it was a every one in a while sunny Sunday bike .. nothing to lead me believe it had been altered at all.. So my question is.. Does a standard carb have a spacer fitted there and with the tunebike kit you fit both of them.. Lifting the carb top approx 5 mm from the carb body .. I've not had chance as of yet to check to see if the carb slide has had the metal insert fitted to it..

i would love to know what you got in the kit and how much it costs,, why did you buy it , what mods have you done , what do you expect from this kit..post the instructions that came with the kit , if any?

i put a straight through exhaust on mine and suffer a little popping and extra heat,, wondering what carb kit to go for

sometimes just the spacer was installed to get a stock bike to work better...

As Dave says, the spacer is there to allow the slide to move higher. The stock one moves high enough in its original form, but any exposure to alcohol makes the carb diaphragm expand slightly and then the slide can't go up,all the way - the spacer specifically addresses this. You can put a new diaphragm in instead, but then that diaphragm will eventually expand too.
The tunebike also includes a couple of drills for opening up the main jet (don't do it to a stock engine, not needed), and an interesting little "snorkel" that extends one of the slide air holes into the carb body a bit. The instructions that come with the kit are excellent.
Overall the kit was a great improvement over stock for me, but I do find myself wanting the simplicity and performance of one big fat carb. Unfortunately for me, the local vintage club (USCRA) has a class that allows Skorps, but only with stock carbs, so I may keep that stock for a while.

Thanks for the replys. I've just fit a gpr race exhaust to the bike so I think I'll fit the snorkel insert and alter the needle positions as stated in the tunebike instruction.. Then get it on a dyno before I look at drilling out the jet..

In the kit you get the diaphragm spacer,2 drill bits to enlarge the jet on the right hand carb and a little aluminium insert that fits in the diaphragm slide... Plus instructions on where to move the needles in both carbs..

so the diaphragm spacer is needed as so the snorkel thing , but with a stock engine theres no need to use the drill bits?
thanks for the heads up , will you photograph the instruction manual or if you have an iphone , get the "my scans " app , this will turn a photo into a pdf,,and post it for me to read,
