cutting out... maybe rich running

Postby handsomejackuk » Fri Apr 05, 2013 5:45 pm

Bike seems to be cutting out a bit today after coming to a halt and giving it a handful of throttle... and seem a bit mis firing and poor running low downn. Any ideas where to look... its idling fine but sometimes cuts out i beginning to think its running a bit rich low down... i have had the carbs off last year for a full clean. And was running great after... going to take my baffle out tomorrow and give it a good hiding i think it maybe a bit choked up also going to take fuel tap out and chec k filtar
I put a new air filter in recentlý

Any thoughts

it is a constant thing here to drain the float bowl often on all 3 of my bikes
may have to due with the plastic tanks ...it may be this humid valley i live in but mine makes water
and other crud by the cup full weekly i have even tried a time that i ran it through a filter skin when filling up
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chamois_leather
should have a piece in your tool bag so when you take on a bad load you can filter out enough to not walk home
it should be the real Chamois leather and its not cheap any more

Think i will try that today.....i take the tap off first.... you know the false carb can i just undo the brass nut and drain. As the float bowl screw is rounded off

needs to be the one thats lowest point in the system...

kind of not into the 660 at the moment ..
i have 3 bikes and it gets expensive so i only do the licence on 2 on them
and the 660 has been setting this past year as i have not planned any really long trips

Put hidden filter into search in 660 forum, could be that.

I would try 1/4 turn in increments on the tick over screw

took the db killer out today, and i also drained tank, and cleaned the filtery effort out in tank.. was a bit of poop in the filter only small bits of poop..and i disassemblered the fuelly tap.... i pumped up the tyres and it went like a bat shit catty... think it needed to clear its lungs a bit... the db killer was all carbonny and sooty.. so running a bit rich me thinks... best i throw the db killer in the nearest skip..

all good..

Dave, do you have room to fit something like this between your carb and fuel tank? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fuel-Tank-Water-Trap-/221158316982?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item337e101bb6
