Plasti Dip (sort of paint) a Skorpion

Hello all,

I think i am new to this forum, but I have the plan to change the color of my Skorpion '96. From blue to brown.
I consider using 'Plasti Dip' technique. Seems simple, cheap, goodlooking and undestructive.
The bigger plan is to give the bike a tougher look like a scrambler. In the future maybe another handlebar and different rubber like Continental TKC 80.
Any thoughts on this project?
If interested i can update the post as it goes with pictures and stuff.

Greets, zoonan

undistructive is not the case ,,I would look into it a little more my friend,, look on youtube "how to apply plastidip",and yes , amazing results, now check on youtube again in plastidip removal and you'll see it comes off very easy,,I just can not see it staying flat and scratch free on a motorbike for very long,,but for its little cost it may still be worth giving it a go to see,,

Thanks for the reply Den.
With the word 'undestructive' i was referring to 'harmless for the bike'. In the sense of being able to 'undo' the whole thing.
Like you said it is easy to remove if desired or if you want the bike to be reset to original.

i use duralast bed liner spray
on daily driver bikes seems to work good
the paint on a bike thats ran 20 to 40 thousand miles a year
turns to crap in a hurry if its not good stuff
i sand it then buff it with rubbing compound and repair of rough spots is quick
and looks ok

my favorite daily driver is
1a bmw R60/5 or 6
2 a bmw r75/5 or /6
3 the /7's are good also till the slush and ice freeze up your front disc
brake been there done that
bmw r50/5 is ok but little under powered for long high speed runs
town daily driver is MZ rt125 2002 to 200?
dave
after 1995 when they stopped making the k75 3cyl
bmw stopped making motorcycles
and joined harley D in making rich boys toys

How did you apply this and how much did you use?

Thanks.

David.

I took off the fuel tank, the front thing above the wheel and the side panels. Then i sprayed 5 layers of Plasti Dip with 12 minute intervals.
All this with two cans of the product, but I admit 3 cans would be better. But I can still do it if necessary.
Anyway the result is great I think.
Now i am considering the side panniers and a top case. Does anyone know if it is possible (and aesthetically ok) to combine Hepco & Becker junior 30 side panniers with Hepco & Becker Gobi top case? All black off course.
Another thing to consider is if it would be ok to put on Conrinental TKC80 rubbers.
Some pics of the color change:
