Okay as usual I have the bike advertised and Im getting the usual "its not worth that" "Ive seen em cheaper" "Its not original anymore"
What do the MZ folks think its worth?. Do you think £1600 is to expensive?.

Looks to be in decent shape. I wouldn't sell it for less than that in a good motorcycle market. If you live in the country it may be harder to get that kind of money but I'd stick with that price for a while if you are near a big city. At least that's the way it works here in Texas. I paid a little more than half that for my Skorpion, but it needed some work.

Its kinda similar over here. I live in the sticks. Probably whats slowing the buyers down a bit maybe. I didnt think it was expensive compared to the others for sale. Its in excellent condition after a 6 month rebuild.

i have learned over the years there are buyers and low ballers
and only the low ballers show up when i have something to sell
that's the reason i have a couple old bmw bikes to restore
years ago when i wanted to sell them
the offers were LOW BALL about 1/3 of what they were worth as a basket case...
and now they still want them at 1/3 of value but want me to make them run and look good....
i am tired of people wanting me to pay them to haul something away when there not a LICENSED trash hauler
my father said a boat was the only thing that had no resale value

its down to taste maty , some people like marmite and some hate it ,, First thing i would do is put the proper handlebars on and maybe the original headlight if you have it , People research bikes and look at pictures for reference ,, anything out of the norm has got to appeal to the person with the same tasteas you,Your bike is worth what it would cost you to replace it , i would say hold out,, with the mods i've mentioned and the winter coming up , an add with the right sales pitch you bike would easily fetch £1600..

I spent some time working in a boat yard on the river Thames, the best quote I heard was: "The two best days of boat ownership are the day you buy and the day you sell".
As to the MZ value, I think the price is reasonable. The low bars might be putting some people off, do you have Renthals to go on it? I had a Yamaha TT600R Belgarda that I sold 6 years ago after spending a lot of time rebuilding and fitting Supermoto wheels etc but the panel and tank paintwork needed some work to finish the bike off. I took some really good quality photos, advertised it on Ebay for a lot more than I was prepared to sell it for, had two calls and the bike sold within 4 hours for £50 less than I asked. I'm convinced the photos were what sold it on Ebay

Do you REALLY need to get rid of?
You have obviously put a lot of`you`into it with a lot of time and effort.
They are the sort of bikes that are worth more than their financial value.
I DO enjoy my Mastiff, but have thought what i might replace it with for anything like the same sort of money.
NOTHING!!

Cheers for the replies everybody. I agree the bars are not to all tastes. They work really well for road riding which is my type of riding. The original headlights I would throw away as they are crap. The difference with these lights is awesome. The bars/lights etc are all available with the bike if someone wants to return it to normal. It would take about 1 hour to change the bars.
It seems nobody except the punters think its too expensive. I will be holding out for around the 1600 mark. It owes me about 17 or 1800.
Cheers

I meant to add that the bars allow the forks to come through the yokes to get the bike to the correct ride height as the Baggy forks are longer by quite a bit.
I tried the bike with the longer forks at full height and the bike handled like an old "harry davison" as we say in japan. It didnt want to turn in to corners easily. I would have had to put pulled back risers on it to clear the forks.

What is actual model of this bike? it looks like a Mastiff with some baggy parts fitted, the clocks are Mastiff for instance, if the forks come through the yolkes then they must be off of a Baggy, the Baggy has longer rear shock to allow for the longer forks. You say it has just had a rebuild, can you explain why?
Just trying to understand the bike, not critisizing

@oldboyonrgv,mastiff is height reduced only and the baggy is available in both full and height reduced, with reduced having shorter rear shock and non adjustable forks, think swingarm length and steering angles maybe different too.
i have hr enduro model with both sets of wheels and run full height forks which lifts the front slightly and changes angle of the seat, slightly more comfortable
