named for marlene dietrich, another beautiful german chick, my es was pulled off the road in 89 when they glued germany back together. she sat derelict in my mate martins shed till 2004 when i pulled her and a lot of spares out to give it a rebuild. Image

she was slapped together with whatever was lying around second hand but where needed like the engine internals, new stuff was interspersed. Image
once she was all functional she was stripped down, painted, test ridden, crated and sent home to australia.
Image
we've done minimal kays since but she's comfy, reliable, and turns heads. anyone else here have an oldie?[/img]

sorry bout that dave. i'm a techno weenie. should work now though as i got a photo bucket account up and running.

re the electrics: the czech alternator and ignition system are in the back of my mind but the original 6 volt system has been faultless over the last three years and i have enough spares. bulbs can be a drama but the local beetle wrecker came to the party with a few new headlight globes in 6 volt and i can still buy batteries so it'll be there for a while i reckon.

i need only a new bar end indicator shell and a mirror lens(dad dropped it in the garage a while back and cracked both these items.) and she'll be back to perfect. knowing there'd be no spares to be had in oz i packed the crate with two spare cranks, clutches, gearsets, cylinder and piston, main bearing seals, a dynamo, clutch case, brake shoes, levers, and metric screws, etc... so i'm right for mechanical bits for a long while to come.

haven't had any luck chasing a right hand side mirror so far but am always hopeful.
