Parts for ETZ 125

Hi,

Newbie question...

I have chance of an MZ 125 ETZ (G Reg) for winter riding, it's been off the road for a few years (but stored in a dry shed). The 2 things obviously wrong with it at the mo are that the chain is shot and the downpipe of the exhaust is peppered with holes.

Any suggestions of where is good for parts around the York/Scarborough, UK area and where is good for mail order/internet.

Also as it's been off the road for a while, anything that's liable to need sorting

Many thanks

Hi,
Sign up to this yahoo group

They should be able to tell you the latest spares situation.

It might be wise to join the MZ owners club as well.

There's always Burwins in London.

Contact Fred Rogers, he is living in Cheshire and has bought up a full stock of MZ 2 Stroke parts.

Many thanks to both of you...

Do you know if Fred Rogers is also on the internet or just on the phone?

I've registered with the yahoo group, but it's still at "membership is pending"

I managed to get a front pipe (new) off eBay, Andy Nobles in Scarborough was selling them (he'd got a job lot of them a couple of years ago).

Next is battery and having a go starting it - wish me luck!

we didn't get too much further over the winter. Got the bike going and stripped down the carb - it had 15 year old petrol in it so was badly varnished. We managed to stuff some rag into the inlet port when we took off the carb (to stop muck getting in) and forgot to remove again before refitting - so after the head off and working out why it suddenly seized, we now need a chain and a bit of tlc.

Hopefully it'll get an MOT before the end of this year - so sorry no ideas about why it runs out of steam in top. May be some of the other guys will have some good pointers (I may need the same pointers yet, when we finally get this one on the road).

Could be back pressure from a bunged up exhaust. Take the bike for a good long run to burn out any carbon deposits. I'm not suggesting you clean out the silencer with a diluted caustic soda solution as this would be at your own risk.
