Problem Starting

Hi Everyone ,
I seem to have sorted most of the problems with my 1985 TS125 but one remains.
The bike is a real pain to start , I have set everything up as per the book , points , plug , carb and timing .
If it does not fire up on the first few kicks I have to end up bumping it, which can be very embarrassing !
Once it goes its fine and runs well , when its warm it starts first time .
The carb seems to be a very strange setup with its 'starter' chamber and no real choke to speak of.
Has anyone changed the carb for a Jap one with a real choke lever and if so what was the result and what carb was used?

Thanks in advance, Richard.

Try this (well it works on my ETZ251),
When cold, turn on petrol, keep ignition off, open choke lever, kick over twice, close choke, turn on ignition, kick to start. I find that a two stoke system needs charging before it will run. Keeping the choke on only allows the engine to flood, wetting the spark plug, if this happens try changing the plug. I always keep a spare of the right grade in my toolkit.
p.s. choke = cold start mechanism
