TS 125: new owner with basic questions.

Hi All,

just picked up a TS125 via Ebay and would appreciate some minor tech' help. Haven't had time to do much with the bike, but just tried to get a spark (more out of curiosity than expectation), but no joy. Two questions; am I right in thinking the ignition switch is the black plastic/metal piece that sits in the headlamp, moves through several clicks and can be removed when in its fully-right position? If so, can anyone tell me which position it should be in to enable the bike to start?

Secondly, does the TS need a battery to generate a spark? I had it in my mind that it probably didn't. Thanks in advance,

Rick.

The TS125 has a dynamo, so definatly needs a battery. Its a 6 volt one, unfortunatly I cant remember the battery number.Don't be tempted to jump it with a 12 volt one as you risk burning out your dynamo and regulator.
Check out the post "New owner of a 1974 ts250" as this has the switch positions explained by another poster.
ps The battery appears to be a 6n11a1 or 6n11a4

radiograf; thanks very much for your reply - really helpful and much appreciated. Did see the post about the TS250 switch and wondered if it was the same - at least now I'll have it in the right position to get a spark once I get a battery!

All the best,

Rick

Cheers Viking, all these little nuggets of info are invaluable. Seem to remember buying connectors etc from V.W.P years ago - will check them out. Thanks,

Rick.

you should also stock up on bussman turn signal relays. I also changed over my fuse box to up to date 15 amp fuses with some end connectors and a dremel to shave down the old fuse holders. This also allowed me to install a kill switch that i hid inside of my tool box
