Hi all,

I've just bought a '80 TS250/1 last night, I'm in North Yorkshire (UK).

Could anyone be kind enough to tell me what the differences are between the engine on the TS and later ETZ, I know the ETZ is 12v but are there physically any differences? I'm intending to build another engine to swap at a later date and would like to know where i stand with interchangeability.

Thanks
Dave

Thanks David,
Interesting table, however it doesn't tell me anything specific about the engine internals, I'm sure someone on here knows about the exact interchangeability.

Thanks

IIRC you can bolt an ETZ engine into a TS250/1. However you will have to change all the electrics ( ETZ is 12V alternator system, some with electronic ignition, TS 250/1 is 6V dynamo with points.) Oh and the exhaust port is at a different angle so a new downpipe at the very least is needed. Personally I think the TS250/1 is the best engine they built in terms of power delivery so get another one and rebuild it if you want a spare. I found the 6V electrics fine if all the connectors were kept shiny. The expensive but very effective way of upgrading the Supa 5 to 12V is the powerdynamo system
