Shock Absorbers - again

I made some soft jaws for my vice and managed to unscrew the top mounting ring - but needed a big hammer to get it to move!!

I made a tool (a bit crude) but it worked and the screw top of the shock absorber body came off fairly easily.

I did that on 2 different MZ shocks and expected to be able to remove the internals - but it's all stuck solid. The damper rod moves up and down freely but whatever is in the body of the shock won't budge.

Any ideas please?

Dunno, but while we are waiting for those that have to return, have you screwed the top mounting ring back onto the damper rod to give you a better purchase? My gut feeling is that more brute force is required, but then again those that know me will tell you that is my usual response to problems!
