Connected Battery Charger + to battery -

Postby Randew2U » Tue May 27, 2008 11:20 pm

I only tapped if for a few seconds, Now my 04 Baggy doesnt start. It turns over and smells like it is getting fuel. I want to pull the plug wire and see if it is getting spark. I recall reading about someone else doing this a few years back. Can anyone tell me what to check in order? or if something would have been fried? Thanks, Randy

Thanks Bill, I got lucky! I checked the fuses, all ok. Found I had Spark, Then I replaced the plug, it looked fouled. Started right up! I wonder what the differnece is between the NGK R DPR8EA 9 that I found the previous owner had installed and the D8EA that I was able to get for $2 at the local auto parts store. I have a holeshot jet kit and a M4 can on the bike.

I use D8EA as my standard plug.

DPR8EA 9 costs more.

D= 12mm thread (C=10mm; B=14mm)
P= projecting middle electrode
R= resistor, Spark arrested, better for the radio - do you have a radio on the bike?
8= heat range. running from 5 = very hot to 10= very cold
E= 19mm thread length
A= normal type; S= standrad type = pretty much the same thing. IX= iridium , VX = platinum

9= 0,9mm gap - a number here gives the gap

so D8EA is a 12mm thread 19mm long without resisitor and with the most normal type electrode imaginable.
cheapest thing available and more that good enough. I used them even from racing.
