HOT WAY ROUND

Postby crashmctavish » Thu Jun 12, 2008 11:46 pm

London to Rome & back 2600 miles or 4000Km in 11 Days
1 Mastiff Rear tyre & new chain (poor prep!)
1 Baghira Never missed a beat
Traffic in the rain on the cobbled streets of Rome was interesting ....

Sounds like a hell of a good time. Any idea of how the tires on the Baggy do on dirt roads? I'm sure they do nice on the street, slick cobble stones and all.

Very envious! Sounds great fun... wouldnt mind seeing more pics too, and maybe a bit more info about your journey :-D
I'm starting off gently this year... touring UK on my Baggi, off abroad with it next year. Would be interesting to know if you have any advice too to make it a more pleasurable experience. :D

I'd recommend a larger tank or extra tank of some sort. Tourtank is what I went with and now I'm going about 270 miles between fill-ups!

All the photos are on facebook under Keith Masters.
Off road no real problems if you have long legs.
The small tank gives you some regular stops, bear in mind we went over the swiss alps twice & 4 hours above cloud going round hairpins in the italian mountains. About 50 tunnels on the way back down.
Keep the rear footrests for long distance, you can put your feet up in the rain & stay drier!
Stand on the pegs wherever possible, people are freaked out as to how tall these bikes are!
Topboxes are good for wheelies
1/2 litre of oil for entire trip.
1 chain adjustment for whole trip.
Lube chain every 2nd fuel stop.
With a 140 rear tyre and 90/90 front the front goes 1st ! I never fell off but did lose the front when about 2 1/2 kilometers up a mountain.
KTM's are overpriced.
JUST DO IT!

I didn't have much luck as you needed to sign up or join.

And one last thing ,i agree KTM's are overpriced.
