Hi Jack. To answer your second question first, yes it does have the gear lever straight off the shaft - and it makes for a much slicker shift than the MZ remote system too!

As for the sprocket cover, I have seen some alloy ones from the same generic engine and they are swappable AFAIK. Certainly nicer than the plastic ones. If I come across one I'll snaffle it just because I like polished alloy - but I'm in no rush, yet.

I saw one on fleabay a week or so back - it might still be there.

Hi again Jak.

I wrote up the mod here http://www.mzriders.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2685 (about 6 threads down) Bill Jurgenson recommended this mod on his website, and my rearset linkage was particularly horrible. I bought a brand new Yam lever for £11 and just fitted it pointing backwards. It was in the perfect position for my foot on the standard rearset - except the gears were now upside down .... you press down to change up. However, having owned several British bikes with that configuration I found that the knack was still buried deep in my subconscious and it came naturally after a few minutes of riding.

So, all you need is the pedal.

As for the second-hand cover, I'd assumed you'd be stripping the horrible silver/grey Jap paint stuff off the cover's alloy to mirror polish it..... no? :D

Hi Jak,

My bike's a Skorpion, with rearset footpegs & controls. If you've a Baggie then your lever's already fitted directly onto the shaft and your footpegs more forward, right?

bike has foot pegs forward, but still uses the remote shift mehanism this why i think that it may not work with baghira. I thought you had baghira.....Silly Me
