bash guard

Fitted my bashguard last night, I dug it out from my garage the other day, I bought some new stainless p clips to replace the shoddy galvanised ones, my new ones even have rubbber on them to protect the frame.

God, what a pain to fit took me about an hour and half last night on my hands and knees. polished up the side and front parts looks o.k, but not to sure i really like the look.

The sump guard fitted to my Mastiff is a Touratech part, bought from Touratech UK last year for about £70 (ouch!)
It looks the business though, but was fiddly to fit. Check out the Touratech website. Part number for Baghira / Mastiff up to '98 is 040-1262. Post '98 is 040-1264. Or just type in MZ and click search.Will post a photo when my son shows me how it's done !

sorry forgot to say, i just renewed the 'p' clips that hold it on, 'cos mine had gone scabby. replaced them with stainless steel items cost me £2 much better job with rubber inserts in them its worth doing, as my old fitment had insulation tape wrapped around the frame to stop damage to the frame. check out hydraulic engineers merchants they normally have they in stock

Thanks for that Jak,
got my bashplate fitted, used the original galvanized 'P' clips with the rubber trim already in situ, but had to use different fasteners to get the plate on the frame, no way would it go on with the originals! Used M5x35 Stainless Steel bolts with the spacers supplied in the middle of the 'P' clip, then attached to frame using S/S nut & lockwasher. Aided & abetted by a 3-tonne trolley jack and 4 nails to line all the holes up !!! Nothing like it shows on Touratechs' so-called instruction sheet. Other mods on mine are MZ carrier and engine bars, Touratech Zega panniers, handlebar risers and handguards, BSM Future silencer, KTM plastic radiator guards. Scottoiler to be fitted soon, just on with bleeding the brakes as I've just fitted new pads all round.
